To help identity popular key phrases for your industry Net Affinity will recommend a list of phrases. It is also highly recommended that a CPC/ PPC (Cost Per Click/ Pay Per Click) campaign is launched in Google Adwords and others. This is the fastest and most reliable way of identifying key phrases to feed into your Search Engine Optimisation campaign.

The industry uses terms like 'head' phrases and 'tail' phrases. Head phrases refer to a handful of very popular, highly competitive typically generic phrases, while, 'tail' phrases refers to a more exhaustive list of less competitive specific phrases for your industry.

In preparing the Search Engine Optimization campaign Net Affinity produce and prioritise both head and tail phrases. The benefits of doing this two pronged attack are obvious. Tail phrases tend to get you ranked quicker so it starts bringing in traffic sooner. However the individual phrases may only bring in a small amount of traffic so this is why the tail phrases list must be very large so cumulatively the traffic is significant. The rule of thumb is to cast the net as wide as possible covering as many permutations and combinations of phrases possible.

The industry also uses terms like ‘organic traffic’ or ‘natural listings’ which refers to your listings and traffic generated from you Search Engine Optimisation campaign.

There are many factors affecting Search Engine Optimisation which also include the site architecture and layout as well as external factors such as inbound links to your website and jockeying for position based on competitor efforts online.
